I spent months working 12 hours sanding floors, and taking wallpaper down with one child strapped on my back and the others climbing inside the playpen. Ha! All was starting to take shape, however we weren't anywhere near finished. This was going take the time, energy, as well as my personal favorite to complete the interior of this house. In order to stay in the realm of budgets, I took to taking my kids to estate sales in search of diamonds. We would go from Thursday to Saturday at garage sales and estate sales buying brand new furniture. Then I stenciled and polished the driveway in the week. It was a bit like it... That's where my passion for restoring furniture began. When our house was completed, I was unable to quit! On the streets I set up a little space, and also sold items. Then, my collection got to the point that the space I had available was inadequate. Then I began hosting open houses at my house that saw more than 1 000 visitors could visit in a single weekend and could purchase anything they wanted in the first floor. Growing Days is the result of all this. My business was booming, but my family was growing too. I was balancing the demands between what it took starting a business as well as a mother too. Growing Days was the obvious choice. My sweet Nora was born in 2013, our 4th child. I loved where my business was heading but I needed a break. I decided to put off working on my antique furniture for a few months and be at home with the children. This was precisely what I wanted. After a couple of months, my phone started to start to. Numerous people reached me for help regarding home improvements and decor. The majority of them visited my home at my open house for furniture. The time flew by before I was managing a full-scale business for home improvement. It began with taking clients on one with a speed I could be confident in. If you had predicted that this venture of mine could become the basis of a television show on DIY Network I probably would have laughed. It's funny to think back on the idea.
